Eroctic Art versus Pornography

I was thinking about this the other day. Erotic art would be socially acceptable but pornography is viewed less favourably.

Take the above image. I would probably say that is erotic art. The black and white image makes it seem more serious. But its not just whether the image is in black and white. For example,

this is in colour but I'd still say that it was erotic art. Both images have a more serious mood. But there's something different about this one

I would figure that most people would consider this to be more pornographic.
Here the model also has the thong and bare buttocks like the previous two but there's something different about the mood. This isn't as serious or somber as the other two. Here I get the feeling that she's having a good time, that she really likes showing her ass. While in the previous two the models were just modeling and used as part of a composition.

I could continue to explore these alternative viewpoints and considerations, but I'm just going to post some more pictures of erotic art.

I'll close this out with a final image that may have been inspired by the 2 Live Crew

Real Estate Signs

I couldn't get any closer to the one above, but its basically a cartoon/drawing of a black woman in a car. I guess its supposed to represent that the agent is like driving around and helping you. Tha sista's doing well cuz she had a white bitch working the open house for her.

The next one caught my eye because it was almost life size -- like one of those life size card board cutouts you see the theater or something. So I was almost going to walk away, but I took a peak at the other side and I found a gem.

It's a husband and wife team. But Carlito doesn't have Juanita as his wife/partner, he's got Charlotte -- who as we can see is a poster girl for the Aryan nation, although her choice of spouse probably got her kicked out of the group.

I wonder how they met? Was she out with a few friends from Burlington who decided to get wild and go to a salsa club and she found Carlito there? I was also thinking who got who into real estate? Was it Carlito or Charlotte? Aryan white girl wants to get a career for the husband. Alternatively, Carlito wants to project the image of a success story and brings his Aryan wife to work. All the latino guys would admire the whiteness of his woman and be impressed -- kind of like how white guys go for asian girls.

Spotlight on Gear: The Military Shirt

The spotlight returns and shines on the military shirt.

The military shirt is enjoying a bit of resurgence these days, with some keeping true to the original while others take the inspiration from the classic.

For example, here's your standard army surplus military shirt.

What separates this one from the bad copies is the pockets -- this one has the extra deep ones. This differs from the version that is typically sported with the Aladdin kit, which has undersized pockets.

Some designers like to take put their own spin on the military shirt, keeping some details intact and changing others. For example, Michael Bastian likes to slim down his shirt, reduce the size of chest pockets (although well above the Aladdin level) and strip out the shoulder epaulets. He also tends to favour the tabs that hold the sleeves in place when you roll them up. This is one he did for GAP, with cheaper fabric then he uses on his own line.

APC sometimes takes details from the military shirt, so their kind of like hybrids -- not really a military shirt, but a button down with different details.
Like the single military chest product

with a nice little detail on the hem.

Or you can take the white oxford button down, and toughen it up with the shoulder epaulets. This is from last year's Madras collection and has this really nice oxford cloth.

Rogan's version of the military shirt looks even tougher than the original. It's in a gray chambray and its got this futuristic look. The epaulets on the shoulders are sewed in and don't have any buttons. The chest pockets are like slits and don't have any buttons. The buttons on the shirt are metal, with most being black with except for one that's just plain.

A Continuous Lean

I stumbled across this website a few weeks ago and its quite a decent little spot.

A Continuous Lean
is run by some guy in NYC.

It has a little of this and a little of that, but the guy is really into men's clothing and shopping. His taste leans to classic american style ranging from work wear to preppy. You could almost say that the guy has a japanese angle.

Actually, probably a little more than an angle because he did a post on Free and Easy, the Japanese fashion magazine more than once. He also did a post on the new RRL in the Hamptons.

I'm not sure if its the kind of site that people who know go to, but its kind of interesting check it out if you can.
